Software

1) How do I install Nutrition-Toolbox™ on the Pocket PC?
Simply run the NutritionToolboxSetup.exe program from your desktop computer while your PDA is hooked up. If you don't have access to a suitable desktop pc don't let that stop you - email us for help on installing to your PDA!

2) When I installed my new Nutrition-Toolbox software on my PDA, a note came on the screen of my PC that said: "Program installed may not display properly because designed for a previous version of Windows Mobile Software."
This is just a warning that your PDA is running the new Microsoft® Windows Mobile™ 5.0 software that can flip the screen around or display in VGA resolution. The Dell Axim X30 will display this message. Nutrition-Toolbox runs great on these systems in the default screen modes, so you may confidently ignore the warning.

3) How do I confirm what version of software I have?
To view the Windows CE version, go to the main menu, select Settings, go to the System tab, and select the About icon. To view the Nutrition-Toolbox's™ version information, simply click on the picture of the toolbox on its first screen.

 

Equations & Tools

1) Some institutions and reference examples use the value 9 to calculate kcals per gram of Lipid while others use 10. Which does Nutrition-Toolbox™ use?
Nutrition-Toolbox™ lets you decide that as you go. You may choose 9, 10, or enter your own values anywhere between 8.5 and 10.5. Other products chose a number and hard code it (unchangeable by the user) - making you do extra math to re-scale your numbers to theirs. This is one example revealing the depth of usability of Nutrition-Toolbox™ - there are many other examples!

2) Parenteral Equations are a real headache on my current PDA software. What makes yours any better?
We spent an inordinate amount of time refining Nutrition-Toolbox's™ Parenteral Wizard tool - it leads you through the process by asking you clear questions about what you want to do and what solutions you have to work with. No second guessing as to what the software is doing or how it is handling the numbers! You will believe your eyes. Hardware

1) I have not purchased a PDA yet, but intend to. Can you recommend one?
We absolutely believe the Windows CE based PDAs are the way to go. Better screen resolution, more memory, better hardware extendibility, better color, faster processors, better synchronizing with your desktop PC; the list goes on. In choosing a specific Windows Pocket PC unit to purchase we recommend you do your own shopping since features change and options vary. We are vendors for the Compaq and Hewlett-Packard based PDAs and offer great deals on them, but any Windows CE 3.0 and later PDA will do. We sell new, used, and refurbished units - email us if you want a fresh price list. Our technical support staff is quite willing to answer any specific question you may have regarding PDAs or specifications - in fact it may be hard to shut them up, so phrase your questions as specifically as possible.

2) Do you have a version of your program for the Palm platform?

3) What versions of Windows CE do you support?
Nutrition-Toolbox™ for the Pocket PC is optimized for Windows CE 3.0 and 2002, 2003 and Microsoft® Windows Mobile™ 5.0 software.

4) Exactly what Windows CE hardware units do you support?
All StrongARM, SH3, and MIPS units. Here is a partial list, but there are many more not listed here. All HP and Compaq iPaq Series, all Dell's Axims, Casio Cassiopiea E200, EM500 and EG800, HP Jornada 520-548, 565-568 and 728, Palmax PD-60M and PD-600C, Intermec P70, URThere @migo 600-C and PD-131, Toshiba Pocket PC e570, e310. 5) Do I need to plug in my PDA between uses?
It's a good idea to keep your PDA plugged in when not in use, so that the batteries may recharge.
